Blog Action Day

A brief stop here this morning as Cassie and I stop in at the little blue house in the village to warm up, recharge our batteries, inhale a few cups of tea (Ceylon), reload our pockets with rubbish bags, rubber gloves and an assortment of tools useful for picking up "stuph", then head out again. It isn't a new exercise here by any means, but we are spending longer at it today.

If the Fates are kind and the Norns permit, we shall be spending most of the day at our appointed tasks: picking up discarded paper cups, beer bottles, soft drink cans and burger wrappers among other things too odious and unsanitary to mention here. For those of you who are also engaged in this activity today, please DO exercise caution and use rubber gloves or tools to pick things up. There are some truly hazardous items lying around in public places.

This is Blog Action Day, and it's a day on which we bloggers can get together wherever we are and make a difference - today we can work together to restore the Old Wild Mother (Mother Earth), to ease her suffering, and at the same time, strengthen our own connection with and commitment to the magnificent natural world of which we are such a small part. It makes me happy to think of us all beavering away in our own little corners of the world and cleaning things up today, but it is something we should all be doing every day - cleaning "stuph" up as we go along.

Now who would have thought that one could find such poignant art in a trash can lid? Sometimes I wonder about myself...

Well... I am also a day late in my observance - I spent most of yesterday with a friend who was undergoing cancer tests and never actually got out to clean up a second, third and fourth time. I hope everyone had a good one! If not, cleaning up today is just fine.

Oh so lovely, the leaf and the lid. I love seeing the world through your lens.

Today I told my yoga mentor and wild sister how much the circle of wild women have meant to me. How I have gained strength and courage thru thier tears , laughter, creativity and love. You my dear I called my first Guru. You stood by silently, lovingly as I began looking deep into my own soul and calling her out.As I found a moment to visit here......I felt as if we strolled along the wooded path laughing..and then finding peaceful silence...have I told you recently how sweet your wild howl is!!! aisling

Great shot. Love those textures together. You are really doing something to make a difference, and I wish more people thought like you!
