Poetry Thursday - Variations on a Theme By Rilke

A certain day became a presence
to me; there it was, confronting me -- a sky, air, light:
a being. And before it started to descend
from the height of noon, it leaned over
and struck my shoulder as if with
the flat of a sword, granting me
honor and a task. The day's blow
rang out, metallic -- or it was I, a bell awakened,
and what I heard was my whole self
saying and singing what it knew: I can.

For Poetry Thursday
There is a original Poetry Thursday offering here.

Blogger is not functioning this morning, and I suspect that the so called transparent conversion of a day or two ago was anything but transparent. My Java console has been throwing every read or parse error it can think up in my direction, and the errors relate to core programming at Blogger itself. I am unable to upload a photo today, and it has taken several tries to get even this far.

I hope you have moved on now from 'just breathe ' to 'I can'. This small poem is rather an inspiring piece. Blogger seems to be a mess at present, last night I could neither edit my own blog nor bring up anyone else's to read and I've had quite a few similar problems recently. Hope they sort themselves out quickly so that we can see more of your wonderful photographs.
