Blessings On the Line

Climbing a ladder to hang Tibetan prayer flags under the eaves is out of the question at the moment (and probably forever), and I have begun to think of the dancing plastic clothespins on the line in my garden as my prayer flags, windhorses or Lungta.

In the Himalayas, cloth prayer flags are hung in high places at temples, monasteries, stupas and mountain passes, and they carry blessings to the surrounding countryside, are believed to bring good fortune to all who pass near them.

My clothespins are the same colours as Tibetan prayer flags (blue, white, red, green, yellow), and when September breezes move through them, they make music too. Why didn't I think of it before? Blessings on the wind indeed.
