Autumn Reading

Autumn is a comfortable chair indoors with a reading lamp and a mug of tea nearby. I would prefer being outside near the garden, but I can't do that on rainy days, and there are quite a few at this time of the year.

Autumn reading is less fluffy than summer's, more history, archeology and natural science. I am usually researching something or other. The fondness for magical realism, quirky whodunnits and Belle Époque fantasy abides, and I enjoy a good mystery, especially when it is set in a faraway place. And cookbooks...

As in summer, reading choices often seem to make themselves, surfacing in my local library, book store bargain bins, village thrift shops, yard sales and the little free libraries that have sprung up everywhere.

Thanks again to the Muses for the kindred spirits who turn up at the door, hand me a bag of reading and ask hopefully if there is any tea in the pot. (There usually is).
