And so it begins...

And so the greening season begins, clear blue skies at sunrise and velvety skies at sundown, waxing moons and handfuls of stars after nightfall.

Geese, herons and loons are returning to the north. There are chickadees and cardinals, the first robins singing their hearts out in the crabapple tree, crows conversing in the big pine, starlings in the garden pretending to be grosbeaks.

Tulips and daffodils lift hopeful leaves through dwindling snow, and everywhere we look are sticky red buds and fuzzy catkins, slowly awakening branches dappled with dew.  Each perfect drop displays the world upside down in its depths, and in each are countless tiny worlds teeming with life and color and song.

The riches on offer gladden one's heart and render her dizzy with possibility. Three cheers for the Old Wild Mother. Hallelujah, spring has sprung.

What good news! Definitely sing out to the skies, the world, the animals and plants.

I think this is one of your most beautiful photographs..one reason is because if anything represents awakening and regrowth it is this photo! :)
