When we are alone on a starlit night, when by chance we see the migrating birds in autumn descending on a grove of junipers to rest and eat; when we see children in a moment when they are really children, when we know love in our own hearts; or when, like the Japanese poet, Basho, we hear an old frog land in a quiet pond with a solitary splash - at such times the awakening, the turning inside out of all values, the "newness," the emptiness and the purity of vision that make themselves evident, all these provide a glimpse of the cosmic dance.

Nice! Love the photo... So serene...
Such an evocative mix of image and language. Thank you. Is this your photo?
It is a collage of four , let me see... (1) the crone in her garden (2) geese overhead flying down to the river (3) the edge of a favorite hill in Lanark. (4) Dalhousie Lake at sunset.
The image is quite fascinating. I like how it blends, becomes one, then blends again. It is mesmerizing. It is like a cosmic dance.
After a long stretch of years of having a daily reading of Merton, I found myself looking at Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. What a surprise to come to his work. Oh, that cosmic dance is always in motion.
Is it okay to post this quote/photo on my Facebook page--with proper credit to you?
So inspiring!
Of course, Pamela, I am glad you like Thomas Merton (and my collage)!
Thank you. Is this your photo?
