Thursday Poem - Assurance

You will never be alone, you hear so deep
a sound when autumn comes. Yellow
pulls across the hills and thrums,
or the silence after lightening before it says
its names - and then the clouds' wide-mouthed
apologies. You were aimed from birth:
you will never be alone. Rain
will come, a gutter filled, an Amazon,
long aisles - you never heard so deep a sound,
moss on rock, and years. You turn your head -
that’s what the silence meant: you’re not alone.
The whole wide world pours down.

A day of sadness, a life of joy and love shared between you. That certainty is enduring, indestructible through time or space. Blessings.

And now your journey with grief... the grief that is beyond words... I remember it so well when our beloved cat passed... It still comes sometimes when least expected, like now reading your post... Love the photo of Spencer looking "beyond" - goose bumps...

I see that lovely neck and beautiful coat and get a lump in my throat.

He was such a beautiful boy. I will always remember him racing out of the house as I pulled up, jumping up on my car and licking my face from bottom to top through the open window -- just to say hello.

I haven't stopped by in some time but I felt compelled to visit tonight. Tears. I lost my sweet GSP around this same time a couple of years ago and the loss is still so deeply felt. They are such wonderful loving beings. Rest easy sweet boy, you were so very loved. I'm so sorry for your loss Cate. xoxo

This is such a lovely tribute to your dear boy. I can see in the photo that although he is looking and listening at something in the distance, he still has an ear slightly turned back toward you. It's so hard to lose such a loyal friend. I'll be thinking of you in the heavy days to come. xoxo
