Lad Among the Leaves

This wonderful photo reminds me of a retreat I went on in the Adirondack Mountains. It was held in a large, sprawling Civil War era farmhouse with a sweet, icy spring and herb gardens in the back yard, and a wonderful wrap-around porch with several swings. I was the first to arrive in the late misty September afternoon. So quiet. Only the last raindrops pittering from the maple trees. And there, by the corner of the porch was a granite statue of Buddha, welcoming me, red leaves encircling his robes on the ground, and a large, brilliant red leaf sitting squarely upon his head, looking for all the world like an umbrella or rain hat. Ever since, photos of Buddha and leaves have made me smile. Thank you.
