Monarch in the Garden

One would have to go a long way to top the brilliant colors of the palette on display here this morning. Red, purple, orange and gold go perfectly together at any time of the year, but especially in shaggy, flowering July.

A few dyas ago, the first visiting Monarch of the season alighted on the crown of a purple coneflower blooming in front of a bed of golden daisies.  The "Susies" in the background are also coneflowers, come to think about it.

How on earth can one describe something this vibrant?  Butterfly and garden say it all, and no words are needed.  Such images will linger long after the south corner of the garden is buried in snow.

"Exquisite" is what came to my mind upon seeing this beautiful image of this beautiful creature.

We haven't seen monarchs in a while around here. We have a lot of milkweed, but they just don't show up.

The Monarch in its exquisite detail looks like a stained glass window! Such beauty speaks to the soul...
