Rising and Setting From Beyond

We live in a sea of light.
Henry Plummer, The Poetics of Light
This morning's images are from the archive of one of my favorite places online, NASA.

The first image shows sunrise dancing like a luminous bead along the rim of planet earth, and the second shows sunset.  The light present in both images is magnificent, and they serve (one at a time) as desktop images on my computer screen, never failing to dazzle the eye and cavort in one's thoughts on a dark morning in February morning when all is in darkness and daylight is still a few hours away.

It's about the light, I tell myself, it's all about the light.  The architect Henry Plummer had the truth of it - there is light everywhere if we will only see, and there is poetry too, here and there and out beyond the rim.  Nature does "the light thing" far better than this old hen with her camera and sketchbook ever will.

Wow - Beautiful images! They certainly give one pause... Do you have the link for them?

Mystic, at NASA's site, they post an "image of the day" and these are from many many moons ago.

Oh, but I love the old hen's eye. Even when I don't comment I look at and enjoy every photo.
