Sun Down Dance - Oestara

Like all truly liminal times in one's life, the equinoxes are interstitial intervals, times when the world around us and the skies above too, are filled with light and pregnant with luminous possibility, if only we have the wits to see.

On Friday at dusk, out I went in my heaviest winter gear with the camera slung around my neck, to find a quiet place and watch old Helios slide gently below the western horizon. Dark below and golden above, the wide vista was the perfect ending to one of the two days in the turning year when everything in the cosmos exists in perfect balance, equilibrium and harmony.

I felt humble and grateful to be witnessing this sunset, and I felt ashamed too. In the presence of such grandeur, I felt ashamed to have been dwelling on paltry issues and silly anxieties earlier in the day, when I should simply have been dwelling in the light. How many lifetimes does it take to get one's act together anyway?

Just what I needed to read today. Beautiful image. And I certainly don't know the answer to your question.

I think some Buddhists would say, "kalpas upon kalpas". Some other Buddhists would say, "remember there is nothing at all you need to change." And this 'buddhist' would say, "here's a hug; me too". :)

Oh the reminder to be grateful always sneaks up on me. I'm glad I can still heed the call. Your photos are beautiful, you thoughts provoking, in a good way.

The last paragraph is so perfectly said. That really struck a chord with me. I think it's good that we acknowledge the fact that we're only human. We're all the same, all just trying to get through the day... and sometimes we do focus on the more insignificant things. In the end I guess that just makes us all even more similar to each other. The more often we can remember to focus on divinity and higher things, the better off we'll be... but don't feel guilty about your flaws either. :) We're all on the same page as far as that goes...
