This Sunrise

Bev of Burning Silo has already commented on the amazing sunrise this morning, and her photo is absolutely lovely, much superior to these images of mine, but the beginning of this day was spectacular, and one simply cannot permit such an astonishing opening to go unnoticed, uncaptured, wordless and without comment.

At sunrise this morning, the skies over the little blue house in the village were a glorious shade of lavender, and they were filled with sumptuously backlit clouds of pink and rose and purple and gold. On such mornings, one has a fleeting wonder-filled glimpse into balance, eternity and enlightenment, and she remembers it forever. Emaho...

Thanks for mentioned my post, Cate. It seems as though these clouds must have been quite widespread and similar for quite some area. How neat!

When I see a sky like that,I think of the passage from the book, Ahab's Wife by Sena Jeter Naslund,
"Dawn had come upon us. The dawn-drenched clouds suggested wings: mauve, purple, rose, gold-outlined-and the sky seemed full of gigantic beings. Though they had no real form, yet they flew and floated in their domain. 'Angels' was all I could say."
I refer to them as "Una skies"! I loved that book and highly recommend it if you have not read it.

I am reading the Cloud Spotters Guide by Gavin Pretor-Pinney - but this is the most beautiful photo I have ever seen of clouds. What wonder.

and thank you Anonymouse for the heads up to Ahab's Wife.
