Multiplicity (I) Seen in the City

Multiplicity, a rarely uttered word in which the rich and heady combination of consonants and vowels roll trippingly off the tongue in casual conversation. . . .

Synonyms include words like abundance, aggregation, amplitude, assortment, bundle, circle, clump, cluster, collection, conglomeration, consignment, crowd, heap, mass, muchness, number, ocean, oodles, pile, plenitude, plenty, reams and scores, complexity, convolution, elaboration, entanglement, intricacy, involvement, assortment, difference, dissimilarity, distinction, distinctiveness, divergence, diversity, medley, multiformity, range, unlikeness and variance. The antonyms are words and expressions which connote clarity, singularity, uniqueness or simplicity.

A heap of brightly colored hats in a downtown shop, an array of grocery carts outside a supermarket, a sea of old wooden packing crates with rope handles: what does the word multiplicity mean to you, and what images and memories does it conjure up?

Oh dear this Otter can't rememeber what ...but I'll try.
I love the crates all lined up...they still seem useful in my eyes. Their colorfulness cry out to be handled once again.

The word "multiplicity" reminds me of mathematics which is my past passion. You would hear phrases such as "multiplicity five" or "multiplicity six" in a casual conversation between mathematicians at lunch time.
