For all the white stuff deposited here this week, our weariness of
the season and all its trappings, there are pleasing bits of gnarly
magic
poking out of the snow here and there. Sometimes, the dried fronds,
wands and seed heads have curving, sinuous shapes, and they are always potent
suggestions that it is
not the season "getting old", but we who stand about in snowdrifts and bear
witness to its passing.
Our all-too-human perceptions totter,
wither, fade and take on strange shapes in late winter. We need
reminders of the earth's own wonder, magic and infinite
change from time to time, in this case a desiccated strand of common tansy with flowing arty curves and a background of deep blue snow.
Thank you for this reminder. It has indeed been quite a winter.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful truth.
