  1. Excellent photos. The details are exquisite. The colors are magical. The Elementals are singing their unique summer song.

  3. Lovely.

What lens did you use for these, Cate?

I've been thinking about adding a macro lens to my collection rather than having to back up across the street with my telephoto lens.

  4. Used to use my telephoto, Loren, and did that backing up thing for some time before I decided to acquire a nice 100mm macro lens. That is what I captured these with, and it does a grand job. The hover flies were so small that they could hardly be seen with the naked eye, but the lens "got" them perfectly.

  5. Thanks. Cate. Just so happened that I had put one of these on my Amazon Wish List before I saw these.

Of course, I don't know if you're using a Canon or a Nikon or ?

  6. Carl Zeiss 100mm F2 ZK Makro-Planar for my trusty Pentax, Loren. It is one doozy of a lens, and I love it, had to save a while for it though.

  7. What exquisite detail! Love the jeweled colors on their little winged bodies. Every now and then I will see a small flash of color when I get buzzed by a flying insect. Such perfection in the smallest creatures!
