Holding the Midsummer Sun Inside

Oh, that they do, these yellow coneflowers - they drink the light in and hold it in their petals, then dish it out like honey, and even the roses behind are moved and uplifted by the frothy magnificence, the almost imperceptible movement and sweet music of their pleasure.

Sometimes I falter in the midst of winter, and then I remember something like this, how my garden loves the light in summer.
