Spencer is almost seven years of age now and a beautiful intelligent boy - the finest of rambling companions.

These photograpghs of Spencer remind me of a visual I have from listening to "Chapter A Day" on Wisconsin Public Radio. The narrator is reading author Mel Ellis' novel about Ellis' hunting dog, Rainy. In the chapter that brings me a visual, Ellis describes that his hunting dog has a mind like a computer. The dog can catalog various scents and presumably files away those scents.

When I look at the photos of Spencer, my visual of a highly intellectual dog with a mind like a computer is fulfilled. Here, I am presuming that Spencer is remembering the smells of spring and all of the scent of various birds, warming earth and the promise of roaming wildlife.

Don't you wish you were inside his brain at moments like these?

Oh Spencer is a handsome fellow, and he has a remarkable brain too. He is a GSP, and that means he also has a phenomenal nose . The uplifted head and intent posture are sure signs that he is aware of everything around him and processing it.
