Thursday Poem - Thanksgiving

I have been trying to read
the script cut in these hills—
a language carved in the shimmer of stubble
and the solid lines of soil, spoken
in the thud of apples falling
and the rasp of corn stalks finally bare.

The pheasants shout it with a rusty creak
as they gather in the fallen grain,
the blackbirds sing it
over their shoulders in parting,
and gold leaf illuminates the manuscript
where it is written in the trees.

Transcribed onto my human tongue
I believe it might sound like a lullaby,
or the simplest grace at table.
Across the gathering stillness
simply this: "For all that we have received,
dear God, make us truly grateful."

Lynn Ungar (from Blessing the Bread)

Happy Thanksgiving to each and every one of you!

Glorious photo - so appropriate for the day. Letting the veil arise and we all sing from the Heart of Grace. And as you know, I am always grateful for your presence here... Blessings of Love today... C

I am blessed. From the moment I wake up in the morning, like a bird stirring in the nest, the Universe showers me with blessings. And at the end of the day, I find that I am asking the Divine to assist me to be "truly grateful."

Today is the day that I allow myself to be completely sentimental with my gratitude in the presence of family and friends. Some who see me everyday, know that I can be quite expressive and they have learned to accept that I have the capacity to be thankful with no edits. But on this day, I sense that I have permission to express my gratitude to everyone, with no limitation on my emotional display.

I am indeed grateful to our Great Mother who provides.

Happy Thanksgiving to you Cate, and to all you hold dear. Once again I find myself in awe and gratitude for the life I now live, the people I know, the friends I've made, my beloved pets, and my beautiful daughters. For this, and all the blessings to come, I am truly thankful.
