Happy (Canadian) Thanksgiving

Tomorrow is actually the designated day, but we are celebrating today due to various family constraints and responsibilities.  There is a plump free range turkey breast in the refrigerator, heaps of harvest vegetables and savory baked goods all over the house.

There were things we should have been doing yesterday, but the lake called in her siren voice, and off we went to visit her.  Overnight, the birches along the shore had turned, and they were a sight to behold, their perfect gold lighting up the water, reflections shimmering like silk in motion.

On such a day, how can one not be thankful?  Whether or not you are observing Thanksgiving this weekend, have a good one.

This is heartbreakingly beautiful. Thank you so much! It's funny, our church here in France celebrates Thanksgiving also today; but the French country has no such thing like a Thanksgiving Day... neither now nor later. As if the French had no reason to be thankful for anything! It baffles me how different countries 'handle' this subject very differently. In Switzerland it was celebrated on the 23rd of September and in German spoken language this special day is called: Day of giving thanks, repentance and prayers.... but already in the French part of our country it's called 'Journée de Grace' Day of Grace...
We have had a beautiful service and were gently reminded of the many wonderful things we are privileged to have and for which we should be thankful not only on one day but every day - I did however very much enjoy the two Thanksgivings I experienced when I lived in Canada - every country does it differently and all are 'right' :)
Happy (belated maybe) Thanksgiving to you and yours
