Curious

There he (or she) is, clinging to the old tree and looking through the kitchen window right at me as I stand looking out with tea in hand.

The face is a study in mischievous curiosity and the fond hope that someone will flounder out into the snow and replenish the feeders in the garden, one of which is just for squirrels.

Oh, what a sweet face! I have a couple of them who sit on my mailbox, staring through the kitchen window, with little paws folded on their chest as if in prayer. Their silent command for me is "Peanuts or walnuts now!" I oblige as I am their slave...

What wonderful eyes!

This solid looking lady or gent is looking in on you and swishing it's tail in anticipation of Cate's treats. Squirrel wonders about the cup you hold. Squirrel tidbits or perhaps only "hooman" treats?

it IS a sort of "your wish is my command thing" isn't it?
They(the cardinal too) stare in at me, willing me to fill the feeder.. and I can never ignore that face to face contact.

Oh, what a darling little one. You can totally see that he is willing the door to open and the generous lady to come out.

Our bird feeder broke a couple of days ago (pretty sure an industrious squirrel broke it) and so we are "refilling" by putting birdseed all along the kitchen windowsill, which puts visitors right up close for wonderful face-to-face contact.

Hope this contact with nature is helping you to heal :) I think the squirrel hopes so, too!

What a wonderful view you have from your window and how cute! Isn't that a little bit of snow on his/her nose? I wonder if they know how darling they are and use that to their advantage. :)

All that joy you have with nature and mother earth flows through you nourishing your body and nourishing us, too. Blessings, Cate.

That's a familiar sight which I don't see now that I'm in Arizona. We had many red squirrels around the farm and they often came to our bird feeders just an arm's length from the window and peered into our house just like that. Here, they are different animals - the little herd of javelina that comes down the lane and stop to gaze around outside the kitchen window while I am washing dishes. Their eyesight is poor, so they sniff the air but do not see me. Last week, a coati climbed the front wall and walked over the roof, its shadow thrown across the skylight. It's a different world, but interesting in its own way.
